Living Life Through the Lens

Daniel Joel Gay was born in May 1992 and has lived his entire life in the Central Pennsylvania area. Throughout childhood, his family took him on many trips all around the United States. As a result, even though he grew up in a small town, he got a great taste of the city life. He believes that all of the excitement he experienced in his childhood caused him to want to live an adult life that was just as thrilling, if not more. How though he was not quite sure about.

Around age fifteen Daniel started to get his hands on video cameras for the first time. In his free time he began to create short films that he post on the new and growing website, YouTube. As the website became more popular, it appeared Daniel’s videos did as well. Within just six months time, his personally produced content had been viewed nearly one million times. Between the hits, ratings, and comments, he began to realize that he had a talent for something he didn’t even know about. Upon thinking about it more, Dan began to realize how much of a film addict he always had been, he just never thought of it as a job opportunity. In attempt to learn more and discover if this was right for him, Daniel spent several weeks of Summer 2008 at the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television. He learned all about production of films from start to finish and even worked on creating one with a team that was eventually shown on the big screen.

Currently Daniel is completing his Senior year of highschool back in Pennsylvania. He tries to stay as active as possible with the industry though, constantly finding freelance work, writing for film news websites, and more. During the Summer of 2009 he actually returned to UCLA, this time to be taught Television writing and production by such professionals as Jordan Moffet (Like Mike), Conchatta Ferrel (Berta from “Two and a Half Men”), and Howard Storm (Everybody Loves Raymond, Full House).
